COMMUNITY SERVICE
Here are some of our church's own community projects as well as local organizations our congregation hosts or serves—hands on, boots on the ground—to be Christ's hands and feet in the community

PAUL'S NEIGHBORHOOD PROGRAM
Nearly 20 years ago, we answered the mayor's call to build relationships with the children of one of our city’s at-risk communities. Since then, our church family has grown to include community children in all activities of the church. We respond to food insecurity and clothing needs, need for support with children’s education, and general support for families. Many of these beloved families take part in our church life and/or have become members. We collect for any needs that arise, from new babies to medical equipment to school supplies. This outreach also includes annual drives such as school backpacks, Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts.
PROGRAM SPACE FOR GRIEVING CHILDREN

We share our church facilities with Kidz’nGrief — a pediatric bereavement program, headquartered at Bon Secours, that provides a safe, supportive environment for children and teens (ages 3-18) to cope with the loss of a loved one. The program uses activities like games, art, and role-playing to help children process emotions, connect with peers, and understand that their feelings are normal.

SHELTER & FOOD FOR THE UNHOUSED

Each winter, we host the unhoused in our community for up to two weeks—providing them overnight shelter, dinner, breakfast, and even an onsite clothing "store" for them to shop needed items.
This program is through LINK, an organization that supports a variety of housing opportunities in our area, which offers PORT. PORT (People Offering Resources Together) is the cold season homeless shelter in Newport News which is housed at various churches.

12-STEP GROUPS
Each week, our church hosts Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and Overeaters Anonymous. We seek to provide a welcoming space and resources for recovery, for both the individual facing addiction and their loved ones. These groups are place for members to find fellowship, share experiences, and work on healing in a supportive, non-judgmental environment, which aligns with our mission to serve and support the community.

MISSION TEAMS
We have enjoyed a strong relationship with missionaries in Haiti and have sent teams to serve there for many years. Due to circumstances in Haiti, we are exploring other national and international mission opportunities.
